I am a post-doc research fellow in the ESSENCE Marie Curie Initial Training Network since November 2015 and have been working with Marco Schorlemmer at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA) in Barcelona as well as with other project partners. My major project role is the integration of software prototypes developed within the project.
Until October 2015, I was a research assistant at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and completed my PhD in August 2015 at the University of Vienna under the supervision of Prof. Gerhard Budin. My background is in linguistics and computer science. After working in industry for several years for companies such as Siemens, Roche Diagnostics, and Berlitz, I decided to return to academia.
Starting from ontology and terminology integration in my thesis, I have been interested in ontology learning and image schema extraction from multilingual text. To this end, I have worked with word embeddings, machine learning, clustering, and distributional semantics approaches, a list that has recently been extended by deep learning. Furthermore, I have worked on the integration of heterogeneous methods, data, and software components within the project.
